Offspring of an art-loving mother and successful entrepreneur father who shared useful truths about running one’s own business, by age 10, Meaghan had filled a binder with her own house floorplan renderings. Architecture seemed like destiny, but she loved nature, digging, gardens, dirt, plants. Mom mentioned landscape design. Click.
Dues paid early
Starting with an Oakville landscaper, digging, moving rocks, laying stone, in the trenches, dirt in teeth, Meg learned how to build. Then to Humber College for landscape technician training, where she excelled at memorizing the common and Latin names and growth characteristics of plants. Next, she co-op’d with an arborist, toyed with being a pro tree climber, but was hired by Reeves Garden Center as a junior designer. Well-mentored there, Meg joined an Oakville landscape company as design lead, where she designed, quoted jobs and plowed much snow. From there she moved to Neil Pike Landscape Architecture, executing high-end projects, learning the business.
Got hitched, got serious
After marrying, Meg founded her own company, cold-calling contractors, winning gigs, growing her client and knowledge base while raising a family. Today, as principal of Meg & Kennedy, she lives to create noble spaces clients can enjoy with family and friends.
Off-hours pursuits and quirks
Swimming, cycling, running, cottaging, stargazing, playing guitar, anything on the water, snowboarding, snowmobiling – Meg loves the smell of 2-stroke in the morning. She has one husband, two kids, a giant Dachshund named Wally and feet that are different by 2.5 sizes.
