Blending the landscape into the forest beyond.

This backyard do-over had some tough terrain to navigate. With over a 7' drop from the main grass level down to the fence, this property created the perfect canvas for this beautiful vista. Working with a concrete pool gave us the flexibility to create a vanishing edge on one side, and tiered plantings on the other, to blend it all together. We were able to utilize the same vanishing edge on the pool and create a waterfall feature for the gas firepit. We replaced the high maintenance cedar deck, with Thermory Ash decking boards, and added tempered glass railings to keep views open. A new multi-function cabana was designed with a gas fireplace, tongue & groove ceiling with fan, and two small rooms for a washroom and pool equipment storage. An outdoor shower was affixed to the outer wall for quick rinses for in and out of the pool. Wet-laid Eramosa flagstone was used throughout, giving this backyard the natural textures and colours it deserved. To top it all off, an outdoor kitchen with a wood burning pizza oven is used twice weekly by this family, allowing them to make the most of their backyard resort all year long.
